The Profit/Loss Calculator helps traders instantly calculate gains or losses from stock trades. Simply enter your buy price, sell price, and quantity to see your total profit or loss along with the percentage return on your investment.

How Does the Profit/Loss Calculator Work?

The calculator computes the difference between your selling and buying prices, multiplied by the quantity traded. A positive result indicates profit, while a negative result shows loss. The percentage helps you understand your return relative to the investment.

Profit/Loss = (Sell Price - Buy Price) × Quantity

Where:

  • Buy Price = Price per share when purchased
  • Sell Price = Price per share when sold
  • Quantity = Number of shares traded
  • P&L % = (Profit/Loss ÷ Total Buy Value) × 100

Example: Calculating Trade Profit

Arun bought and sold Tata Motors shares.

Trade Details:
• Buy Price: ₹650 per share
• Sell Price: ₹720 per share
• Quantity: 50 shares

Calculations:
• Total Buy Value: ₹650 × 50 = ₹32,500
• Total Sell Value: ₹720 × 50 = ₹36,000
• Profit: ₹36,000 - ₹32,500 = ₹3,500
• Profit %: (₹3,500 ÷ ₹32,500) × 100 = 10.77%

Arun made ₹3,500 profit (10.77% return) on this trade!
